The People VS OJ Simpson actress Sarah Paulson bared all for a revealing photoshoot in W magazine back in 2016, and now the pictures are testing Facebooks ‘no female nipples’ policy.

Paulson, who made headlines last year when she began dating 73 year-old Holland Taylor, spoke to W magazine in June of 2016 about her much-lauded role in The People VS OJ Simpson, her highly publicised May-December romance with Taylor and her refusal to be typecast, on or off screen.

W magazine reposted an image of a topless Paulson from the accompanying photoshoot on their Facebook page, and users were quick to express their astonishment that social media site – which is notorious for its excision of all images of female nipples – allowed the post in the first place. “Wow – nipples on Facebook!” wrote one user, capturing the overall mood.

A screen grab of the post

Facebook’s Community Standards as of June 2015, state: “We remove photographs of people displaying genitals or focusing in on fully exposed buttocks. We also restrict some images of female breasts if they include the nipple, but we always allow photos of women actively engaged in breastfeeding or showing breasts with post-mastectomy scarring.

“We also allow photographs of paintings, sculptures, and other art that depicts nude figures. Restrictions on the display of both nudity and sexual activity also apply to digitally created content unless the content is posted for educational, humorous, or satirical purposes.

“Explicit images of sexual intercourse are prohibited. Descriptions of sexual acts that go into vivid detail may also be removed.”
