A Rundown Of Things
Yikes, I've been abandoning this blog, so I thought it was time to come back and look at some of the recent programmes that have aired since the last time I submitted something.
Doctor Who: Well that was something of an ending. Some people loved it, some felt it dragged it out too long but whatever your feelings are, David Tennant is gone and Matt Smith is here for a good while. I'm sure he'll be great. In terms of LGBT stuff though, apart from overdoing the homoerotic banter between the Doctor and the Master, we did see Jack and Alonso Frame hook up.
Being Human: The second season is currently airing on BBC3 and while it's taken a slightly darker tone compared to it's opening year, it's still worth watching. In Sunday's episode we met the gay couple responsible for getting Mitchell clean and when the vampire of the couple killed his human lover accidently, it was Mitchell who had to help him escape the country.
An Englishman In New York: You wait 34 years for a follow up to The Naked Civil Servant and it's aired during the Christmas period. To be fair, I did like it. Not as much as it's predecessor but enough anyways. John Hurt did recapture the role of Quentin Crisp very well and it was one of the best things that ITV aired in a while.
Raw: RTE must really love this show if they're airing at Sunday 9.30pm timeslot. So far the second season hasn't been as good as the first one but it's still been pretty enjoyable so far. Geoff and Pavel hopefully will get more development as a couple, assuming they still are one in later episodes. Don't mind Fiona either, even if there's supposed to be a sexual tension with her and Geoff.
Glee: Apparently it's the gayest thing on TV. I don't neccessarily agree with that statement but it is damn enjoyable and I don't know if any other show could've gotten away with that version of 'Push It' either. I am hoping that Kurt is better developed in later episodes too.
EastEnders: It might be realistic for Zainab to be an ardent homophobic but even I was a little shocked with the amount of bile she spewed at Christian before Syed married Amira. And I've lost interest in Christian and Syed as a couple.
Nip/Tuck: There was a time when this was a must see show but now, it's become more than a shell of itself. Christian marrying a lesbian and then callously tossing her aside when he realised that he wasn't ill was a new low, even for him.
Other Bits
- Kevin Alejandro has been cast as Lafayette's love interest in the third season of True Blood. He's playing a character called Jesus.
- The fourth season of Brothers And Sisters starts tomorrow night on More4 with a double from 9pm.
- Apparently an American version of Torchwood is in the works. There's also rumours that Russell Tovey will be joining the cast of the current version.
