The Return of Madonna : What We Want
GCN updates you on the return of the Queen of Pop and talks about what we are hoping to see her do next!
We chatted about the new Madonna album awhile back but now the promotional plan for new album MDNA (and her film W.E.) is well under way and the tidbits and promo is coming thick and fast.
The press release is now up on Madonna's official website and today we got our first look at the album cover from her Facebook page alongside the single cover for Give Me All Your Luvin', featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. the video for which will debut in full on Friday. Amazing.
Madonna will take her spectacular show to the Super Bowl on Sunday and we're sure there'll be a blitz of promotional appearances. The world tour is rumoured to take place this summer with proposed UK dates said to betaking place in July and even whispers of a Dublin show floating around the internet.
This is of course very exciting and now that new Madonna music is so close we can almost taste it, what do we want? Here are the five things we're hoping for with new Madonna music.
(5) Brilliant videos - Right, no offense to 4 Minutes but even Madonna said she didn't know what was going on with that video ("Oh no a giant shape is after us, let's have a dance!" she seemed to be saying). And given that Madge's previous release had precious few singles we feel like it's been years since we've had a suitably huge video from her. Pop videos have a bigger audience than ever now because of YouTube so we want her to bring some insane visuals this time around. We know she has it in her!
(4) One big ballad: Madonna has already confirmed that the slowie Masterpiece from W.E. is included on MDNA but we're hoping that the Queen of Pop has a lush, over the top ballad like Frozen lying in wait on the album. Even if she has promised a more up-tempo experience overall.
(3) A spoken word moment - Remember Rescue Me on The Immaculate Collection? The ridiculous speech bits on Sorry? We want at least one moment of Madonna speaking slowly and clearly over a banging dance beat or we're going to feel short changed. Sort it out M!
(2) A new approach to showing her body: this might sound odd or prudish but a change from the leotard/skimpy clothes of the last few albums styling would be great. The dancewear vibe is all a bit too "Mum goes mad at American Apparel" for us and doesn't do Madonna's killer body justice. We want a sleek, pared back look that has a subtlety to it and reminds us just how sexy Madonnna can be.
(1) Something Fresh: Madonna recently commented that she thinks a lot of the songs on the radio at the moment sound too similar and we're hoping that list of talent working with her gives us a collection of songs that show her pop nous but also stand apart from the sea of generic club bangers that are now comprising the charts. Basically we want Madonna to do what she does best, Madonna.
