Splat
An interesting new series has taken over RTE1's Sunday slot, titled, Does God Hate? In the episode I caught, it was referring to sex as the panelists, various religious representatives and Marion Finnucane were all deep in discussion in regards to modern society's attitude towards sex. When it came to discussion of the homosexual variety, woman of the hour Brenda Power was surprisingly non vocal. After her articles back in the summer, maybe she was adopting the less is more tactic by letting the other panelists discuss the issue among themselves. David Norris in particular certainly had no problem in letting an Islam representative know how damning opposition/suppression towards homosexuality was. For a 30 minute piece, it was certainly informative.
It seems that every year, we're going to get a late night edition of Hollyoaks which at times, feels no different from the regular show we get. Sure the drug/sex quotient goes up a notch and in between Hannah and Rhys's debacle with two of the naffest looking drug dealers and Cindy/Tony getting hitched, we also had the love triangle from hell. Why did the writers have to turn Lydia into a bunny boiling whack job? More importantly when her plan to off Zoe had to go awry, why was it that Sarah was the one who ended up going splat (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbC3P5QN4uk&feature=channel_page)? For five nights, it was entertaining enough and despite some of the music being overegged, Sarah's death was actually well done. Die, Lydia, die.
It's been a great summer for True Blood and now that I'm finally finished with the first season, there's no reason why I should wait until July 2010 to see the second one (hint, hint, FXUK). Finale wise, Rene being the killer made some sort of sense, Maryann will finally give Sam a story that does involve him chasing Sookie like a puppy (pun so intended) and there's also Lafayette's disappearance. If we're going by the books, things really are going to be dire for the character. Hopefully though, they're not fatal because I really find the character a breath of fresh air. Hopes for next season - some more gay vampires. Malcolm was a hoot and you'd have to have a heart of stone not to have felt bad for Eddie, especially when Amy dusted him. This has by far been the best show on TV and for those of you who've missed it, terrestrial airdates below.

TG4: Mondays 9.05pm from October 26th.
