Is That A Stethoscope Or Are You Happy To See Me?

You know I'm beginning to resent RTE2 using the term, 'girl time' to promote their US imports on a Tuesday night. Last time I checked, I was a bloke and even I'm enjoying Nurse Jackie. I've never rated Edie Falco that highly as an actress but she is rather good in this series, even if it reads like a female House to an extent (her character even takes drugs and crushes them as sweeteners). Of course because HBO and Showtime are awash with gay characters, we get one here with the rather sarcastic Mohammad. Two episodes in, we've seen him as a friend to Jackie and a slight antagonist to student nurse Zoe. Here's hoping though that we get something better with him. Still on a unrelated note, I can't help but think, 'huh?' when watching Maeve Higgins Fancy Vittles.

Not to endorse snobbery or anything but folks, every now and then, there's good reason to look down on reality TV. When people as vacuous as Kerry Katona and Katie Price continue to pollute our airwaves by airing their pathetic dirty laundry. Price is particular seems to be doing her level best to up the ante in a bid to curry favour with a public who are clearly tiring of her. In last week's What Katie Did Next? the fanfare made over her attending gay best mate's Phil Turner's wedding (seen a week prior on LivingTV's Four Weddings) was ridiculous. All that fuss over a hideous dress, her feelings of her own marriage ending and to be honest, the actual couple's wedding itself looked ridiculously OTT anyway. Clearly subtlety isn't in their lexicon and that's sixy brain sapping minutes of my life I want back.

Doctors is on a list of many shows I never get to see but I've been checking out the last few episodes and stuff online and I can't believe there's a good storyline here with shy but cute medic Simon Bond and his American lover Todd. Heck, judging by this picture alone, both Corrie and EastEnders should take some notes. Of course there some spoilers flying about that this relationship might not be for much longer but right now, it's better than Christian/Syed at any rate. Plus at least the writers also focus on other aspects of Simon, such as his parents very messy divorce to boot. You can catch some clips here ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZtStmMeNE4
