Gay Teen Found Guilty of Murder

A gay Scottish teenager has been found guilty of killing a schoolmate who he claimed was blackmailing him for sex.

The High Court in Glasgow heard that Craig Roy (right), 19, murdered 16 year-old Jack Frew after he became concerned that his then-boyfriend Christopher Hannah, 20, would find out he had a sexual encounter with Frew.

During the trial, Roy claimed that Frew was a "sex pest" and that he viewed him as a threat to his "perfect relationship" with Hannah.

The BBC reports that on May 6, Roy arranged a meeting with Frew after receiving a sexually explicit text message from him. Roy told police that he brought a knife along as "back-up" and to "scare" Frew.

Roy stated that upon entering the woods, Frew exposed himself, causing Roy to produce a knife from his pocket and stab Frew 20 times before slitting his throat.

Jurors at the High Court found Roy guilty of murder after just 90 minutes of deliberation. He will be sentenced at a later date. After the verdict was announced, Jack Frew's family called on the judge to impose the maximum sentence.
