I'm part Irish/American, heavily opinionated and snarky but I have a sweet side. Music, TV and writing are more or less my passions. I come from a big family and I'm joining this site because many people I know seem to be on it. People Who I'd like to meet: kind, considerate, funny, genuine, open minded and interesting. That's not asking for too much.

How Did He Do It?

One of the most talked about things this was Derren Brown. Always a bit of a strange one, that bloke but surprisingly looks non threatening for an illusionist. This week he sparked more interest when he predicted the UK lottery mid-week. The Events on Friday showed him detail out the method in question by assembling 24 people. Their  predictions for each ball, which were made by studying the numbers from last year, were added up and divided by 24 to equal the average guess, until they improved the technique and got the right numbers. Well, it was certainly better than his Russian Roulette stunt all those years ago and it's better than anything from David Blaine at least.

Bloody hell. Corrie certainly went out with the campness last night with Sean finally forced to admit to Leon that Jason was straight after all. It bears repeating - how thick was Leon? How could you not tell that Jason was straight? The funniest part however was Jason winning Mr Gay Weatherfield, despite his complete obliviousness to everything. It's not the funniest plot that the show has done but it's certainly better than others we've seen recently.

Just when Kevin Bishop vacates the screens, Katy Brand is back to, err, take the piss out of some very easy candidates. Doing a parody of the likes of Lady Gaga, Coldplay and Kanye West aren't exactly shocking nor are they some of her funniest material. I do however enjoy her 110% take on the Queen but other than that, this series should try a little harder to be more original with it's targets. Even the Lily Allen sketches are a bit tired.

OTHER STUFF

- True Blood will premiere on TG4 and Channel 4 in October for terrestrial viewers with the first season coming out on DVD on the 26th of that month.Tenth book, Dead In The Family also comes out next month.

- RTE2 are airing the third season of Brothers And Sisters, Tuesdays 9pm from September 15th. Trailers for the fourth season have leaked online.

- It's rumoured that there will be a gay wedding in the second Sex And The City movie.

- I've discovered The Lair through YouTube. Fit guys but Christ, some truly appalling acting.

- BBC3 have commissioned a lesbian drama called Lip Service, which will air on the station in 2010.

- Afternoon BBC soap, Doctors are currently doing a gay storyline with the characters of Simon and a cure male patient. I should check it out, though from the looks, it's better than Christian/Syed in EastEnders.

- Ellen Degeneres has been confirmed as the replacement for Paula Abdul for the new season of American Idol.

- Joss Whedon is penning a one shot comic called Willow for December. I wonder who that could possibly be based on.
