Mrs Robinson and The Gay Gene
Talk about digging yourself deeper and
deeper into a hole you’ll never be able to get out of. Iris Robinson’s latest
comments (not made out of hate, you understand) are the cries of a desperate
woman.
She knows she’s fighting a loosing battle, yet she persists. Either her faith in a fire and brimstone God is so strong
that desperatley needs to spread his judgemental word, or she’s like a cornered
rat - one way or another she’s doing herself no favours.
The God she believes in definitely did not
create gay people, and it comes down to this argument every time – are we born
gay? If, as Deborah Ballard points out in her forthcoming GCN column, a gay
gene is ever identified, it will show up the Iris Robinson’s of this world for
what and who they really are.
Meanwhile, in a BBC documentary this week, John Barrowman is trying to
identify whether it was nature or nurture that made him a big nelly with knobs
on. Is there anything this man can’t do?
