I'm part Irish/American, heavily opinionated and snarky but I have a sweet side. Music, TV and writing are more or less my passions. I come from a big family and I'm joining this site because many people I know seem to be on it. People Who I'd like to meet: kind, considerate, funny, genuine, open minded and interesting. That's not asking for too much.

The First Bite

The last thing we need is another vampire series but when the show is spearheaded by HBO and Six Feet Under creator, Alan Ball, I find myself becoming more receptive to the idea. Based on the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris, True Blood is a vampire show with serious bite. Okay so some of the Southern accents are terribly overheightened and while Sookie's willingness to trust Bill so quickly can be frustrating, the series isn't lacking with fantastic character. Sookie's best mate Tara proved that her hand and foul mouth are far scarier than anything with fangs and gay viewers get represented by the seriously unapologetic and charming Lafayette. Twilight, this thankfully ain't.

Torchwood came back for one week and probably did more in that week than some series have done in a year. The 456 weren't the best monsters we've had but they scored points for getting the government to consider sacrificing kids and they did cause the death of Ianto Jones, to the fury of many viewers (some of the comments I read on Digital Spy, TWOP and LiveJournal after episode 4 were vitrolic to put it mildly). I wish the writers hadn't offed Ianto but I have to admit that I utterly enjoyed the mini-series quite a lot. With the ratings being astonishingly good, I'll be surprised if it doesn't come back for a fourth year, even if the final episode did feel like a series finale.

Seeing as my previous blog got deleted, I'll continue with this. What can I say, EastEnders certainly know to rush a story don't they? This might have worked if it had been a slow build up like with Todd in Corrie but having Syed from sleeping with Christian to proposing to Ameera did seem a tad rushed. I think I'm losing interest in this storyline pretty fast.

OTHER STUFF

- Matt Smith and Karen Gillan's costumes have been revealed to the papers as the fifth season of Doctor Who films.

- Expect a lesbian plot in Heroes' fourth season with Claire.

- Also a parenting plot with Kevin and Scotty in the fourth season of Brothers And Sisters.

- Apparently Corrie will be doing a plot with the opening of a gay club.
