UCC Rainbow Week Announced

The annual week of events organised by University College Cork’s LGBT society will cover a wide range of topics.

"This year's Rainbow Week is as big as ever with much collaboration with Clubs and Societies in UCC," says Aaron Blake, convener of this years Rainbow Week. "The events are diverse, ranging from fun and social to educational. There is something for everybody."

The week kicks off with an opening ceremony at 12pm on Monday, January 16 in the Students' Common Room in University College Cork.
That evening at 7pm in Kane G19, a discussion on Gender Reassignment Surgery will take place in conjunction with the Philosophical and Surgical societies featuring a guest speaker from Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI).

Marriage Equality will be facilitating a workshop on Wednesday 18t n O' Rahilly Building 123 to highlight some of the differences between civil partnership and civil marriage, and explain how people can become active and help lobby on these issues.

At 3pm on Thursday 19, local LGBT Garda Liaison Officer, Karl Griffin, will deliver a workshop on LGBT Hate Crime in O' Rahilly Building 244.

Other events include a UV party on Wednesday in Freakscene, a Sexual Empowerment Workshop at 1pm on Tuesday 17 in Western Gateway Building G05 and a play by the Dramat Society in Boole 1 on Thursday 19 at 7pm.
