Emmerdale Scoops Best Storyline Award For Gay Plot
Emmerdale has scooped the Best Soap Storyline award for the plot that saw gay mechanic Aaron Livesy struggle with his sexuality and undergo a turbulent ‘coming out’ process at the TV Choice Awards.
Miller, who plays gay character Aaron Livesy on the show also
scooped Best Soap Actor at the TV Choice Awards last night.
Miller, though heterosexual in real life, was the victim of
a homophobic attack last month when two men attacked him over his role in the
soap opera.
Speaking to Attitude recently about his role in the soap Miller said, “I now know what it feels like to be gay, almost, because I've had
things like 'you poof!' shouted at me and it's like, 'Hold on a minute,
if I really was gay, how dare you? I've had these
things and it's has put me in a homosexual's point of view and the kind
of abuse that you have to put up with.”
