I'm part Irish/American, heavily opinionated and snarky but I have a sweet side. Music, TV and writing are more or less my passions. I come from a big family and I'm joining this site because many people I know seem to be on it. People Who I'd like to meet: kind, considerate, funny, genuine, open minded and interesting. That's not asking for too much.

Hasty Proposals

Abandoned for week, Yvonne and Connie were back in Fair City, dealing with a pregnancy and a marriage proposal. Could Carrigstown have it's first gay wedding? Should I care? Probably not. As pregnancy storylines go, you've got Louis thinking the baby is his, Paul bricking it because it is his, Suzanne harping on like a deranged praying mantis and Connie wanting to make an honest woman out of her dishonest partner. And this is one of the soap's better plots. No, I do actually like Yvonne with Connie, I just don't plan to get my hopes up with this storyline is all.

Forget Gavin And Stacey. One of the most original and breathtaking comedies the BBC have produced in the last three years has been Beautiful People. Catching up with the first three episodes of the second season, it's nice to see that the show hasn't lost it's touch. Simon and his mate Kyle are certainly amusing in their attempts of setting up a boyband and meeting Dana International. But Simon's dysfunctional family are much funnier and the opening episode with his parents trying to tie the knot left me in stitches.

I have to admit there are times when being shallow isn't a bad thing. When it comes to Stargate Universe, I might not have warmed to some of the characters but I certainly think that Brian J. Smith (Lt Matthew Scott) is exceedingly cute. I'm also happy that nine episodes we got to see Camille touch base with Earth and meet up with her girlfriend, Sharon. Granted only about five minutes was dedicated to the plot but it was probably the best five minutes of the entire episode. And the best part is that we're going to see Sharon later in the season again. Who knows this might become of the same excellence of Willow/Tara in Buffy minus the tragic outcome.
