I'm part Irish/American, heavily opinionated and snarky but I have a sweet side. Music, TV and writing are more or less my passions. I come from a big family and I'm joining this site because many people I know seem to be on it. People Who I'd like to meet: kind, considerate, funny, genuine, open minded and interesting. That's not asking for too much.

Anything For A Bet

When it comes to guilty pleasure TV, Gossip Girl isn't particularly high on my list of things to veg out to. Then again, when the show heavily publicised that it's Alpha Male character Chuck Bass was going to make out with a gorgeous guy, even I found myself watching it. I know that in the books, Chuck was in a relationship with a man at one point but his motive for making out with a bloke in this one was a part of some attempt for girlfriend Blair to increase her status. The kiss itself was brief, handled surprisingly better than a lot of other rating grabbing attempts with the same sex and Chuck admitted that he wasn't particularly bothered with kissing a bloke either. Who would've thought that a show that now has Hilary Duff guest starring in it could decent when it gets the chance to be?

You'd think with The X-Factor that ITV would spare a little more. Apparently not as the ninth series of I'm A Celebrity started last Sunday. Catching a few repeats, it's not that particularly interesting. In fact the majority of the publicity is undeservedly going to Katie Price, who's been wittering on about closure (ie, currying favour with a public bored shitless by her). As for the gay quotient, nothing as delightfully quirky as George Takai but I do like Sam Fox and I suppose Colin and Justin aren't that irritating. Mostly.

A few weeks ago, Friday night chat shows had two prominent gay men being quizzed. For the Irish, The Late Late Show did a wonderful interview with recently outed GAA man, Donal Og Cusack and I have to admit, credit to Ryan Tubridy who certainly broached the interview than his predeccesor would've done. One of the best of the interview was when Donal read out a letter from a young lad coming to terms with his sexuality. I hope the likes of Brenda Power and Jan Moir were paying attention. As for Jonathan Ross, I like the guy, I really do but I felt he went a little easy on Boy George, even if the singer was fairly opened about the events that led him to a brief spell in the nick.

Seven months is a long time to wait for a special and for Doctor Who, it needed to be a good one. Fortunately, The Waters Of Mars excelled above and beyond the norm. Even if it proved that when the Doctor chose to interfere, it blew up in his face. I wasn't expecting Adelaide to shoot herself. Still, death is coming for this version of the Time Lord. And for those wondering where the 'gay' part of this episode, the character Yuri discussed his gay brother and husband. Does that help?
