Proms And Some Macarena

One thing you gotta love Channel 4 for is their occassional LGBT content and My Big Gay Prom is yet another one of those programmes that could've done with some decent advertising but at 11am in the morning, who do you aim such programme at - students between classes? At home parents? Having Ivan Massow as a sponsor for a group of young gay student preparing for one of their rites of passages is a good move in this UK based series. Next time though, I'd like to be more aware that such a programme is set to air.

The irrepressible Stephen Fry made yet another appearance on popular Sky1 cop show Bones in an episode where his character Gordon Wyatt was brought in for another psych evaluation. Less on Booth and Bones herself and more on the responsible for the death of his fellow band mate in some awful rock band. I'm not a big fan of the series but I do like Fry and this is certainly good and this was overall an enjoyable episode. In terms of LGBT stuff, I know that the fourth season tapped into the bisexuality of the character of Angela but there was nothing on that here.

The penultimate episode of The L Word dealt with a dance contest for couples and to see which were going to be the last one standing. It's pretty obvious that because of their friendship with Jamie, that Alice and Tasha certainly won't be as well as Jenny and Shane. Jenny couldn't just confront Shane in private about sleeping with Nikki, she had to do it in public and she dished dirt to Jodi about Bette and Kelly (you know the one nifghter that doesn't exist). I'm actually dreading the last ever episode of this show given the advance reviews but the next blog is going to be a tribute to the series so be prepared.

- Former Buffy actress Amber Benson recently promised if she got 85 reviews on Amazon.com for her book, Death's Daughter, she'd do the Macarena. Needless to say, she lived up to her promise ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ei5Xpc6QfFQ
- A lesbian plot got ditched for Ugly Betty. I'm relieved. Given that they have yet to write Marc beyond a stereotype, maybe it's best that we aren't getting that plot.
- American Idol finalist Adam Lambert (yes, him who was caught making out with some lad a while back) made it on the cover of Entertainment Weekly without his fellow contestants. They must really, really like him.
- Current favourite actor of the moment, Russell Tovey will be heading back to Doctor Who for the last two specials as will just about everyone else.
- Jessica Capshaw (Arizona) will be made a regular in the sixth season of Grey's Anatomy.
- A gay subplot is featured in the fourth Dexter book, Dexter By Design.
- Battlestar Galactica spin-off Caprica apparently also has some gay content of the lady form. The pilot was released on DVD late last month.
