Easter Weekend
Sorry I haven't been around as much but I've had some personal matters to attend to. Anyways, Easter - I managed to control myself on the chocolate front. I know, I'm shocked too.

Doctor Who came back with one of four episodes that will see the departure of actor David Tennant and lead writer Russell T. Davies. While Planet Of The Dead wasn't the most stunning of episodes, it certainly was one of the better offerings during the Easter period. Michelle Ryan pulled in a good performance as stand in companion Christina but Lee Evans's daft scientist Malcolm certainly wins prizes for his unabashed love of The Doctor. At one point with the amount of 'I love yous' that were being declared, I thought Malcolm was gonna actually snog The Doctor. So, who's gonna knock four times and ultimately kill the heroic Time Lord? I think it's pretty obvious but I won't say.

Has anyone recently caught The No1 Ladies Detective Agency? I have to admit, it's not usually my thing (a bit twee for my liking) but it's a surprisingly enjoyable series with some very funny moments. US singer Jill Scott is terrific in the leading role and like many series, this is adapted from a book. However the series has added the character of BK, who despite not getting a lot to do in some episodes is a lot of fun.

On to a more grittier series, it's amazing BBC2's treatment of The Wire is. You'd swear it was a brand new series, rather than something that ran for five seasons and came to an end last year. The Wire is the kind of show that make broadsheet journalists gush but it's genuinely deserving of the hype it's generated. It also features two prominent gay characters in gangster Omar and lesbian detective Shakima 'Kima' Greggs. If you've never seen it before, really you should treat yourself. TV at it's best.
- I caught RTE2's On Trial episode about gay pride. Some interesting issue were addressed. Too bad it was only on for a half an hour.
- Corrie want to do a lesbian character with Sophie, apparently.
- According to SFX, Torchwood will air during the summer.
