The Top 30 Pop Singles of 2011
This was a tough list to do. I've avoided putting them together for singles before because it can be such an effort. But with such a crazy year for pop music, I tried my best to whittle it down to my favourite 30 pop tracks of the year.
These are the songs I had on repeat, I couldn't get enough of and went back to time and time again. Let me know what you think below. Please note my shortlist was well over 70 songs so I did my best to whittle it down. This may make it high on shiny pop and not so much the subtler moments but that's the fun of a singles list really.
30: Party Rock Anthem - LMFAO - the Macarena for 2011. Amazing.
29: Moves Like Jagger - Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera - gleefully silly pop tune
28: What Do You Take Me For - Pixie Lott feat. Pusha T - a rare "actually really good single" for this bland popstar
27: Call Your Girlfriend - Robyn - in my head this is more of a 2010 tune, hence it's lower placing
26: Blow - Ke$ha - brilliant, robotic electro pop with utterly daft video.
25: Last Friday Night - Katy Perry - bubblegum brilliance
24: Papi - Jennifer Lopez - utterly barmy Latin tinged floor filler
23: Someone Like You - Adele - utterly beautiful blubathon
22: Run The World (Girls) - Beyonce - a real grower and Beyonce's most in your face single yet
21: Titanium - David Guetta feat. Sia - Guetta's finest moment yet
20: All Fired Up - The Saturdays - inspired pop rave up
19: Radioactive - Marina and the Diamonds - indie princess goes dance pop with thrilling results
18: Wet - Nicole Scherzinger - brilliantly trashy dance cut, made for silly dancing
17: Beat of My Drum - Nicola Roberts - inspired, nutty solo winner for Team Ginge
16: Edge of Glory - Lady Gaga - saxophone solo alert!
15: We Found Love - Rihanna - one of the year's biggest singles and undeniably brilliant
14: In The Dark - Dev - underrated but addictive dance pop magic
13: Bounce - Calvin Harris feat. Kelis - Calvin by numbers, but those numbers are BRILLIANT
12: On The Floor - Jennifer Lopez - sounds like a song you heard on your holidays to Mallorca when you were 11. Which in this case is a good thing
11: Notorious - The Saturdays - their best single ever, a sexy call to the dancefloor with an exciting build up and unusual structure
10: Born This Way - Lady Gaga - ridiculous and utterly genius disco-pop stomper
9: Levels - Avicii - a big crossover-y dance tune that will never leave your brain
8: Marry The Night - Lady Gaga - a big big chorus and some spooky church organs to boot
7: Hello - Martin Solveig feat. Dragonette - the best dance song that is a pop song of the year
6: Video Games - Lana Del Rey - spellbinding, gloom-pop
5: Till The World Ends - Britney Spears - euphoric, fizzy dance-pop treat
4: With Ur Love - Cher Lloyd feat. Mike Posner - R&B pop heaven, all charm and (god help us) swagger
3: Motivation - Kelly Rowland - gleefully sexy R&B slow jam
2: Hold It Against Me - Britney Spears - relentless, dubstep-infused stomper
1: Judas - Lady Gaga - aggressive, Europop meets electro banger madness from pop's reigning nutcase.
