Singled Out!

We have five tickets to the opening night of A Single Man at Dublin’s IFI on Friday, February 12 to give away.

After years proving his worth as one of Britain's most versatile and likeable actors, Colin Firth may well bag himself an Oscar in March for his star turn in the gay film of the year.

Rolling Stone called his portrayal of George, a man who lost his gay lover eight months ago but is still desperately grieving, the "performance of his career". Playing opposite Julianne Moore (as George's alcoholic best friend), Firth is uncanny at showing a heart crumbling under his character's elegant exterior.

The film was directed by fashion designer, Tom Ford, who has been criticised for over-designing the production, however the final product looks beautiful and has something profound to say about society’s denial of committed gay relationships.

We have five pairs of tickets to give to the opening night screening of A Single Man at the IFI in Dublin on Friday, February 12 at 8.50pm to give away. To be in with a chance to win, send your name and address to competitions@gcn.ie, marking the subject box: A Single Man
