Santorum Suspends Presidential Campaign
Virulently anti-gay Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum has announced he is ending his bid for the US presidency.
Former Pennsylvania senator Santorum hinted that he was dropping out of the race for personal reasons following the hospitalisation of three-year-old daughter, Bella last week.
Santorum's campaign had been actively opposed by LGBT activists due outspoken stance against the repeal of DADT and the introduction of gay marriage.
In 2003 sex columnist and LGBT activist Dan Savage, angered by Santorum's anti-gay rhetoric held a contest among his readers to create a definition for the word ‘Santorum.'
The winning entry, which defined ‘Santorum' as - "the frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex" - became a prominent search result for Santorum's name on several engines.
