This week, Darren Kennedy, takes a look back at one of the most stylish men of the 20th century.
Last week I got thinking about iconic people of style over the past century. You know, the type of person who really captures the essence of a time or decade through their personal style. The obvious ones are the likes of Coco Chanel, Marlene Dietrich, & Marilyn Monroe. In menswear, there's one that stands head and shoulders above the rest. James Dean, one of the great men's style icons of the past century.
By all accounts, the Hollywood star and cultural icon was a fairly simply bloke. He certainly was style wise anyway, and this is a part of his sartorial kudos. His undeniably cool look was simple - a white tee, worn jeans and a leather jacket. When you think of the predominantly preppy styles popular at the time, his rebellious style marked a definite departure. James, you're one cool dude!
