Ant And Dick Ignore Homophobic Protesters.
Police were called to handle a protest made against gay celebrity wedding planners, Ant and Dick, on Sunday in Enniskillen, it has been reported to the Herald.
The professional pair, who have worked together for the past five years, were attending a wedding fair at the Westville Hotel, when the venue was picketed. A man and a woman stood with a placard that read “Bible Marriage. One man equals one woman”
The manager of the hotel, Pat Cooley stated; "It was a bit of a shock for me because I could not work out what they were protesting about because, after all, it was a wedding fair.”
When he went outside to speak with them, they said their protest was about the promotion of same-sex marriage. Pat informed them that the lads had been employed as wedding planners and asked the protesters to leave.
However, the protesters moved across the road, where they planted their placard for all to see. Cooley felt this was a distraction to drivers and so called the police who asked them to leave.
Ant and Dick made light of this however, stating; “there was nothing intimidating about it” and acknowledged that the they were “not here to challenge anybody's opinion”.
Pat Cooley has said; "The feedback has been second to none and we have plans to use the two lads in future. In the current recession, the lads are ensuring that couples get their marriages planned at a much more competitive rate. I am certain the protest was due to the fact the lads are gay."
