ABSOLUT GAZE Film Commended

Hold on Tight, the film commissioned by the Dublin International LGBT Film Festival, has been highly commended by the judges of the Iris Prize 2011.

The Iris Prize is presented annually during the Iris Prize Festival, which showcases international lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) film, in Cardiff, Wales. The full programme includes new feature films, panel sessions, parties and screenings of all 30 short films competing for the Iris Prize.

Directed by Anna Rodgers, Hold On Tight was funded through the first ABSOLUT GAZE Filmmaker's Award at this year's GAZE Film Festival. The film charts how various Irish same-sex couples feel about public displays of affection. The award was sponsored by ABSOLUT Vodka and Filmbase Ireland.

The overall winner of the Iris Prize 2011 was the Brazillian film, I Don't Want to Go Back Alone, directed by Daniel Ribeiro. It tells the story of a blind 15 year old Brazilian teenager who falls in love with his new friend.
